She is also a
volunteer for the annual “Leave No Trace” program, which
teaches students about water quality in the streams and rivers of
“Education is a
huge part of what the Conservation District offers the community,”
she says. “Going into the schools and offering canoe trips are
something that definitely needs to keep going.”
Sally’s
participation in this program is invaluable for keeping it going since
the District lost the field technician who facilitated the program.
Education is a
natural part of Sally’s interest. She holds a degree in English and
Literature from Lake Superior State College. She taught at
Benzie Conservation District
