Jon Throop: Executive Director

A Northern Michigan native, Jon spent his early years hiking, camping, and canoeing, gaining a deep appreciation for the benefits of spending time in nature. While pursuing his degree in Conservation Biology at Lake Superior State University, Jon was fortunate to secure an AmeriCorps internship with the Grand Traverse Regional Land Conservancy, where he would spend twelve years focused on a variety of projects and programs. During that time, Jon earned his Master of Philanthropy and Nonprofit Leadership degree from Grand Valley State University, continuing to sharpen his skill set for protecting nature. 

Jon lives in Lake Ann along with his wife Jenni, their son Orson, and an assortment of beloved pets. You can find them swimming, riding bikes, and exploring nature across Michigan.
