Platte Paddle Tour: North Branch

When: Thursday, August 20, 2026 from 9:00am-1:00pm

Where: Meet at Platte River Park

Registration required: this event is limited to 15 people. Please RSVP by email to Mike Schwartz, Water Quality Technician, at [email protected].

About:
Explore the Platte River Watershed with us in our summer paddle series! Together, we’ll paddle the North Branch of the Platte River.

This is an out and back paddle. We’ll launch at Deadstream Road, paddle roughly 3/4 mile up river, out to Little Platte Lake, then back down river to the original starting point. The current is typically very slow.

Our anticipated timeline is meeting at 9:00am, getting on the water by 10:00am, paddling for 1-2 hours and being back at the parking lot by 1:00pm.

Important notes:
  • In case of bad weather, this event will be rescheduled to August 27th.
  • Please park at Platte River Park, as parking on Deadstream Road may be limited. We’ll meet at Platte River Park and then shuttle to Deadstream Road.
  • Benzie Conservation District will bring two vehicles and two kayak trailers to the park so we can transport as many attendees as possible to Deadstream Road to reduce the number of vehicles.
  • Please note, there is a slope on the bank of the launch site and no dock is present.
