Black cherry produces fruit that is loved by birds and other wildlife. It has fragrant white blossoms in spring. The leaves and twigs can be poisonous to livestock if ingested. Its leaves turn orange to purplish red in fall. Black cherry wood is reddish brown and is highly valued for furniture and paneling.
