Persimmon is a slow growing tree that produces edible fruit. When ripe, the fruit is mild and sweet, and it is commonly used in breads and puddings. Wildlife like deer, turkey, pheasant, and raccoons enjoy the fruit as well. The glossy green leaves turn yellow to red in fall. As the tree matures, its bark pattern becomes distinctly blocky.
