Soil: prefers sandy, well-drained, acidic soils; perfect for most of Benzie County! 

Height: can reach heights of 60’ to 80’


Red pine is fast growing with tall, straight trunks, soft clusters of needles, and distinctly scaly reddish bark. Red pine plantings are used for a natural fence, erosion control, or windbreak. They are commonly harvested for timber. Wildlife use these trees for shelter and eat the seeds.


Bareroot seedlings are 4-8", 2 years old, and have been in a transplant bed for 2 years.
