Thursday's Clean Sweep on the Platte River was a huge success! Our volunteers pulled an entire truckload of trash from the river and were treated to a beautiful afternoon in the sun. Some of the highlights included up close encounters with wildlife, scenic views of the upper Platte, and the joy of removing trash from what would otherwise be a pristine native ecosystem.

The fun continues on Saturday, June 11th with the 5th Annual Betsie River Clean Sweep. The District invites you to come out to enjoy an afternoon of paddling while helping to restore and enhance the beautiful Betsie River.

Volunteers will meet at 9 am at the Benzonia Congregational Church for a free pancake breakfast before heading to the river. We expect to be on the water until around 2 pm so please come prepared with sunscreen, a life preserver, and plenty of drinking water. Every volunteer will receive a cool "Benzie River Steward" tee-shirt for their service!

If you are interested in participating but don't have access to a canoe/kayak, contact the District office and we will try to find one for you to borrow.

To sign up, please call or email John Ransom at 231-882-4391 x 13 or [email protected].

Thanks! See you on the Betsie!
