Need some help planting all of your seedlings? Love planting trees but don’t need any more yourself? Then this new program is for you!

The Neighbor Network is designed to help connect landowners with volunteers to help them plant their seedling sale trees and shrubs. Interested participants are invited to attend a special meetup where you can meet fellow participants and arrange group planting projects together. The required meeting will take place on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at 6:00pm in the Mills Community House (891 Michigan Ave, Benzonia, MI 49616).
Sign me up!
How to participate:
  1. Sign up: Interested participants, both volunteers and landowners, should start by filling out the required registration form above. It asks for general contact information and serves as your registration for our Neighbor Network meetup event on April 2, 2024. Please fill out the form even if you are interested but unable to participate this year. We will be reaching out to interested volunteers with future opportunities.
  2. Attend the meeting: At the event, you will develop a shared understanding of the best tree-planting techniques, then have the opportunity to meet fellow members and arrange planting dates together. Benzie Conservation District staff will help facilitate these conversations and answer questions.
  3. Have fun helping the environment and your community!

The planting projects are not Conservation District events. Rather, we are launching this Neighbor Network in the spirit of volunteerism and environmental stewardship.

To participate, please complete the required registration above. Contact us with any questions at 231-882-4391 or [email protected].

Special thanks to the Heartwood tier sponsors of our Spring Native Seedling Sale: Honor Bank, Crystal Lake Watershed Association, Cherryland Electric Cooperative, Platte Lake Improvement Association, and Stefanski Dental.
