The Conservation District's educational series offers a unique opportunity to enjoy all of the recreational benefits of Northern Michigan, while learning about the history and ecology of our natural resources. The series continues Friday, August 19th from 6-9pm with a sunset tour of Lower Herring Lake. Conservation Specialist John Ransom will be leading a relaxing paddle along the shore highlighting some of the area's most interesting ecological sights and stories.
A haven for tourists, Lower Herring Lake is one of Benzie County's gems. With sandy shores and crystal clear waters, the lake offers serene views and ample opportunities for wildlife viewing. It also happens to be one of the best places in the region to catch a spectacular sunset! You will need a canoe or kayak, paddles, life jackets, binoculars (optional), and appropriate clothing for weather conditions. No shuttling will be necessary as the tour will begin and end at the same place.
