Volunteer Stream Monitoring Program: Spring 2023

Our biannual stream quality sampling event is a great way to get introduced to the steam monitoring process and the interesting creatures that live in our rivers. Volunteers assist with the collection of macroinvertebrates from sites along the Platte and Betsie Rivers and Herring Creek by:

• sorting through samples
• picking out macroinvertebrates from rocks and leaves
• putting them in a collection jar

Volunteers can also participate in the collection of samples if they are familiar with native aquatic habitats or are willing to undergo training in order to become familiar with the habitats. 

Training: May 12, 4:00pm
Event: May 13, 9:00am - 2:00pm 
Meet at the Benzie Conservation District office in Beulah
