What makes a good shoreline?

Take a moment to remember what first drew you to your lake front property. Was it the crystal clear waters? The abundant wildlife? Access to good fishing and recreating? By creating a natural shoreline on your property, you can help preserve the very qualities that likely attracted you to lake front living in the first place.

Join us Wednesday, July 27th at Grow Benzie for a Natural Shoreline Workshop featuring a panel of experts presenting on the basics of shoreline ecology, the art of lakescaping, and DEQ regulations to guide your project.

What is a natural shoreline you ask? Natural shorelines are a buffer created to protect your property from erosion. Unlike sea walls which create a hazardous transfer of wave energy, natural shorelines use native plant species and organic material to create a relationship between your lawn and the lake that helps to filters out toxins, is accessible to wildlife, and is easy to manage throughout the seasons.

To learn more about who is presenting and what topics we will be discussing, check out the Shoreline Workshop page under the programs tab.

Registration is $10 a person and $5 dollars for an additional person. To reserve your spot please contact John Ransom at [email protected] or 231-882-4391 x 13
